Emergency Response and UPS Replacement

Camali Corp received an emergency call from DRMC expressing their data center’s UPS had malfunctioned internally and their critical load was no longer protected by uninterruptible power (UPS). Camali Corp immediately responded to the late-night call while bringing our warehouse-stocked UPS to provide a temporary UPS solution without interruption to DRMC’s critical loads. The most important step was to ensure the critical loads were supported by UPS power. Installation of the temporary UPS allowed DRMC & Camali to take a breath and proceed with the correct steps to design/engineer a properly sized replacement UPS.

Camali Corp assisted with design and engineering of the new UPS system while maintaining the temporary UPS, removed the old and installed the new solution. Once the new solution was in place, critical loads were transferred from the temporary UPS to the new permanent UPS without power interruption to DRMC’s data center. 

DRMC is a hospital that requires all installations to follow HCAI/OSHPD regulations. Encompassed in the project was the installation of a new breaker and megger testing of the existing wires. Beyond the transfer of power from the temporary to permanent solution, the biggest challenge was installation of the input & output conduit to the new UPS location. The pathway for this conduit installation was almost non-existent. Camali Corp found a way to provide the pathway from the critical load panel to the new UPS.
