Project Overview

Nike’s mission is to bring inspiration and innovation to every athlete in the world, with the belief that “if you have a body, you are an athlete.” Focused on empowering individuals through sport, Nike combines cutting-edge technology, sustainable practices, and bold creativity to design products that elevate performance and style. Behind that global operation is a critical IT infrastructure network that supports retail, logistics, e-commerce, and corporate systems.

Camali Corp was first brought in to install UPS systems at Nike’s modular data center in Ontario, California. After successfully delivering that scope, Nike expanded Camali’s role to full modular data center design-build work in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and Dallas, Texas. What began as a single UPS installation grew into a multi-state design-build and maintenance partnership supporting Nike’s critical data center operations.

The Challenge

Nike was scaling its global IT infrastructure and needed reliable modular data centers built quickly across multiple states, resulting in:

  • A need for dependable UPS and backup power systems
  • Tight timelines for modular data center deployment
  • Electrical, mechanical, cooling, and power distribution requirements across multiple locations
  • The risk of delays from coordinating several separate vendors
  • A need for consistent execution in California, Pennsylvania, and Texas
  • Long-term maintenance and upgrade needs after the initial builds were complete

In a global enterprise environment, these issues are more than construction challenges. They directly affect uptime, performance, and business continuity.

The Solution

Camali Corp delivered a full-scale modular data center support strategy:

  • UPS System Installation:
Installed critical UPS infrastructure at Nike’s Ontario, California modular data center to support reliable backup power and continuity.
  • Multi-State Modular Data Center Design-Build:
Expanded from the initial UPS scope to full modular data center design-build work in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and Dallas, Texas.
  • Electrical Infrastructure:
Managed electrical systems required to support safe, reliable, and efficient power delivery across the modular data center environments.
  • Mechanical and HVAC Support:
Delivered mechanical and cooling systems to help maintain stable operating conditions for critical IT equipment.
  • Power Distribution:
Supported power distribution systems designed to keep infrastructure running safely and consistently across each location.
  • Integrated Project Delivery:
Managed multiple critical systems under one partner so Nike did not have to coordinate separate electrical, mechanical, cooling, and power distribution vendors.
  • Ongoing Maintenance and Upgrades:
Continued supporting Nike after completion through system maintenance, upgrades, and performance monitoring.

The Results

The work delivered immediate and long-term impact:

  • Reliable Data Center Operations – Critical infrastructure across California, Pennsylvania, and Texas
  • Simplified Vendor Coordination – Electrical, mechanical, cooling, power distribution, and maintenance under one scope
  • Consistent Multi-State Execution – Standardized delivery across multiple locations
  • Long-Term Infrastructure Support – Ongoing maintenance, upgrades, and performance monitoring
  • Improved Business Continuity – Stronger uptime support for global IT operations
  • Scalable Modular Infrastructure – Data center environments built to support future growth

The result: a
reliable, scalable, and professionally managed modular data center infrastructure partnership across three states

Testimonial

"This project is a great example of how Camali grows with a client. We started as the UPS contractor on one site and became Nike’s full design-build and maintenance partner across three states. That kind of relationship only happens when you deliver every single time."

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are modular data centers used for enterprise IT infrastructure?

Modular data centers help organizations expand IT capacity quickly while maintaining control over power, cooling, and system reliability.

UPS systems provide backup power during outages or power fluctuations, helping protect critical equipment and reduce downtime risk.

HVAC systems help maintain stable temperature and airflow conditions, which are essential for protecting servers, network equipment, and other IT infrastructure.

Using one partner can reduce coordination issues, improve accountability, and keep electrical, mechanical, cooling, and power systems aligned throughout the project.

Regular maintenance helps identify issues early, improve system performance, and support the long-term reliability of critical infrastructure.
