Thinking outside the box while reducing cost

The Walt Disney Company approached Camali Corp to install two 1 megawatt UPSs to enhance their data center resilience. Disney had two existing UPSs in separate rooms providing “A+B” or “N+1” power configuration. This redundant configuration allows for the “A” UPS to support the “B” loads if the “B” UPS were to fail, and vice versa.

Before Camali Corp was engaged, the initial thought was to install one each of the new 1 megawatt UPSs in the rooms alongside the existing UPSs. It was discovered that the new UPS was not able to communicate with the older systems; the older systems would only communicate with each other. So, the plan was to install temporary power during the relocation of the old UPS.

Camali Corp took this opportunity to recommend installing one of the new systems alongside the existing UPS. Once the new UPS was commissioned, we were able to relocate the old UPS while maintaining the “A+B” power redundancy with one new and one old system. Once the old UPS was relocated to the room with its like system, Camali Corp was able to install the second 1 mega-watt UPS alongside the other new system. This method of procedure saved Disney what could have been over $100,000.00 cost for the temporary power solution.

This job displays Camali Corp’s high level of knowledge and creative thinking to save client’s money. We do not take shorts, rather, we collaborate with the involved parties to inspire the best solution.
